Early Lead for East Liverpool Varsity Potters Sets Stage for Victory Over Harrison Central

East Liverpool Varsity Potters jumped out to an early lead over Harrison Central and took home a 6-3 victory on Wednesday. East Liverpool Varsity Potters scored on a double by Jake Smith and a single by Paxton Grimes in the second inning.

After Harrison Central scored one run in the top of the fifth, East Liverpool Varsity Potters answered with one of their own. Harrison Central scored when Mitchell hit a solo homer. East Liverpool Varsity Potters then answered when Devin Toothman hit a solo homer.

East Liverpool Varsity Potters pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second Smith doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run and Grimes singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.

Smith took the win for East Liverpool Varsity Potters. The righthander went seven innings, allowing three runs on five hits and striking out ten.

Purosko took the loss for Harrison Central. The pitcher surrendered five runs on five hits over three innings, striking out two and walking one.

East Liverpool Varsity Potters smacked two home run on the day. Toothman went yard in the third and fifth innings.

Toothman led East Liverpool Varsity Potters with two hits in four at bats.

Harrison Central racked up five hits. Mitchell and Blawut each managed multiple hits for Harrison Central.
